I think part of the juxtaposition in the Obama candidacy and the Clintons’ candidacy is how they treat their listeners.
I want to use the candidate-forced crowd chant as a method of comparison. Check out these two speeches; one from Obama upon losing New Hampshire, and one from Hillary on the stump.
Both of them start up chants–or try to–that sum up their attitudes.

Hillary, at about 2:1o in this:
Again, and I’ve made this point before: there is no place for me, or you, in Hillary’s rallying cry, except for accessories to her and what she wants to do. We are the focus of Obama’s chant.
