This morning, at 7 AM, my 18-year-old brother cast his first vote ever as the polls opened. Reports have it that he voted for Obama. We talked on the phone last night about how Obama is the candidate that he is proudest to support, and fifty years from now, he may look back and remember that he, along with many million other Americans, cast his first vote ever for the man who fundamentally changed the public sphere.

Just watched Paul Kennedy speak last night, and he said, it probably doesn’t matter whoever becomes president. Though I’m not known for being an optimist, I really hope he is wrong. We shall see.
